Concussion Baseline Testing

Dear Parents,                                                                                                  November, 2019
Fullerton High School Athletics has contracted with a company named IMPACT to provide a technology based concussion evaluation system. IMPACT, an FDA cleared medical device, is used by healthcare, educational, and sports organizations to help assess and manage concussions.
Our trainer, Marcus Heisner, will be administering IMPACTs Pre-Concussion test to your athletes. Marcus has been trained to administer the test and interpret the results of tests. Times for our athletes to take the test will be set up in the computer labs on campus. The testing takes about 20 minutes.
The purpose of the test is to examine an athletes brain function prior to a head injury. Then if a concussion is suspected or occurs, a 2nd test will be administered that will show any post injury changes. Post-injury testing helps professionals understand the athlete’s post-injury status, make concussion treatment decisions, and determine return to activity readiness
This testing DOES NOT take the place of all established normal concussion protocols nor does it replace a Medical Doctor’s diagnosis or treatment plan. It is an additional safeguard designed to keep our student/athletes healthy and safe.
