The Boys Cross Country team continued their season this past Wednesday with a win over Buena Park High School at Buena Park. The boys put all 7 runners in front of Buena Park’s 5th scorer to give them a 14 point victory, 22-36. The win puts both Fullerton and Sonora High School at the top of the standings with 2-0 records. It is also the first time Fullerton has defeated more than one league opponent in the same season since September 2016.
Senior Cyrus Burton led all Fullerton runners with his 2nd place finish while junior Matthew Abernathy placed 3rd and Sophomore Nathan Limon placed 4th. All three runners dipped under 17:10 for the second consecutive week. Junior Lukas Willis-Guerrero performed well in his first career varsity race with a time of 18:24. He was the teams 4th scorer and finished 6th individually. Rounding out the boys top seven was Nathan Smith (7th, 18:38), Jeremy Ardon (9th, 18:53), and Max Maggio (11th, 19:13)
In lower level action, sophomore Troy Fernandez (18:33) pulled away with the individual victory and was closely followed by teammate Daniel Frausto (18:37). The boys put 4 scorers in the top 6 finishers to improve to 2-0 as a team as well.
The boys will host their next meet at Troy High School against Troy on Wednesday, February 17th.
