Game #15 1/9/19 League #3 Fullerton @ Sunny Hills WIN 2-0 in OT
Sunny Hills is the returning 2018 Freeway League Champion and ranked #1 in Division 2, coming into today’s game with overall record of 10-1-2. Fullerton was ready for a challenge from the kick off whistle. Both teams traded punches with Sunny Hills getting off 4 shots in the first half while the Indians struggled. The second half was a different story, FHS had 6 quality shots on goal, but the Lancer’s parked the defensive bus in front of their goal and nothing went in. A physical game with 4 yellow cards being shown to Sunny Hills while FHS received only one. End of regulation time the game was tied 0-0, now two full ten minute overtime periods. 4:00 minutes into first overtime Joshua Espinoza, on a corner kick bends the ball which goes off the Goal Keepers hands and into the goal for the games first score. With 2:00 minutes left in the second overtime period Joshua Espinoza on a breakaway drives down the left sideline and takes a shot on goal. The Keeper blocks the shot and Joseph Espinoza follows up and “smokes” the ball to the back of the goal. Fullerton wins 2-0 in OT. Fullerton records its third league win and 14 overall. The defense works hard to record the ninth overall shutout and second in league.
