Troy hosts Fullerton in the Fullerton District stadium for the first Freeway League game of the year. Fullerton starts off with two great plays that move the ball down field, then a fumble and Troy recovers and a strong running game with offside penalties and Troy is in the lead 7-0. With 3:26 left in the first quarter Troy kicks off, Fullerton moves the ball, but gets penalties that move them backward, till on third and 25, pass is completed to Garcia for a first down. FHS moves the ball to 9 yard line and quarter ends. First play in the second quarter a nine yard pass to Garcia and Fullerton is on the board, PAT by Fernandez is good and the score is tied 7-7. Both teams trade punches but Troy has the ball and with 6 seconds on the clock, Troy completes a pass for a TD and PAT is good. Troy is up 14-7 at the half. Fullerton kicks off to start second half and the Warriors return the ball to the 27 yard line. The Indians can’t stop the run Troy scores and is up 21-7. FHS gets the ball and Shaw makes a 16 yard run, Troy gets called for a personal foul penalty, then Shaw makes another good run topped off by a Smith reception and the ball is on the 5 yard line. Williams make a 5 yard run for a touchdown PAT is good 21-14 Troy. With 2:20 left in the third quarter completed pass to Garcia and great runs by Shaw and Fullerton is on the move. The effort is topped off by a Shaw TD run and another good PAT by Michael Fernandez and the score is tied 21-21. Fullerton moves down the field but it takes them till 25.2 seconds left in the game for a TD pass to Garcia and a good extra point to WIN 28-21. A tough hard fought UGLY game with a total of 27 penalties for both teams, BUT a typical Troy vs Fullerton football game.
