This afternoon the girls cross country team set out against Sunny Hills at their home course. Senior Ali Williams and freshman Morgan McAndrew pushed the pace throughout the race creating a significant gap between themselves and the first Sunny Hills Runner. In the end Ali Williams took first with a time of 20:04. Morgan McAndrew followed closely to secure the second place spot with a time of 20:08. Although these are not personal records for either runners, they did finish a whopping 1 minute and 49 seconds before the first Sunny Hills runner! Junior Hannah Torres delivered a strong and consistent performance to support the varsity team. Freshman Amanda Chin ran in her first varsity race ever and beat her personal record by 13 seconds with a time of 26:21. Despite fighting an injury, junior Katie Sprague joined the race with hopes to finish strong. Although Katie finished her run at the 2 mile mark, her splits show progress and what could have been her fastest time for the season. While Fullerton did not have a scoring team the runners showed great resilience, strength, and dedication to the sport, to representing our school, and to one another. Thank you to Sunny Hills for graciously hosting our team. We look forward to our last dual meet of the season against Sonora High School next Wednesday at 3:00 pm.
