The Fullerton Boys Cross Country team gained some more momentum this past weekend while competing at the Pat Hadley Invitational. With temperatures quickly reaching the upper 80’s, the boys competed against 23 other teams which included league foes Sunny Hills and Troy. Fullerton’s top seven included: Cyrus Burton, Caleb Garner, Matthew Abernathy, Christian Perez, Daniel Fausto, Max Maggio, and Josiah Yousling. The boys will race next on Wednesday, September 18th, in the first Freeway League Cluster meet.

Freshman Boys
Daniel Frausto – 20:12 (First high school race in the Fullerton uniform! Mile 2 split was faster than mile 1 as he passed 25+ guys on his way to a 35th place finish!)
Carlos Martinez – 21:06 (Relatively close splits for each mile! 6:48-7:02-7:16)
Troy Fernandez – 22:09 (Also a faster mile 2 split compared to mile 1!)
Seth Sanders – 21:59 (Dropped 2 minutes off his first race from a couple weeks ago!)

Sophomore Boys
Matthew Abernathy – 19:25 (Very talented addition and already showing an immediate impact as the teams 3rd fastest performer!)
Aiden de Leest – 21:50 (Starting to recognize his capabilities!)
Garrison Pike – 27:51 (Very even mile 1 and mile 2!)

Junior Boys
Cyrus Burton – 18:58 (#1 man for the team for the second time this year! Mile 1 split 5:52 as he broke 19 minutes for the first time!)
Caleb Garner – 19:16 (Showed a lot of grit the last 1.5 miles of the race with very close mile splits! Finished as the teams #2 performer!)
Christian Perez – 19:33 (Another performance in the low-mid 19 minute range as teams #4 performer!)
Max Maggio – 20:27 (Finished as the team #6 performer! Will continue to fight for a scoring spot on varsity!)
Josiah Yousling – 20:42 (Out well for his first mile in his first 2019 xc race!)
Joseph Saada – 25:53 (Relatively close splits!)
Jeff Illene – 21:37 (Over 2 minutes faster than his first race! Can’t just be the bright yellow shoes he was sporting!)
